Day 24

Look to See Where God Is Working

“So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel.” – John 5: 19-20
Jesus perfectly completed every assignment that God the Father gave Him to do.

“Experiencing God” authors Henry Blackaby and Claude King teach that we can use Jesus’ life as a model for our own. They use John 5: 17-20 to provide an outline for knowing and doing God’s will.

That outline states:

*The Father has been working right up until now.

*Now God has me working.

*I do nothing on my own initiative.

*I watch to see what the Father is doing.

*I do what I see the Father already is doing.

*You see, the Father loves me.

*He shows me everything that He, Himself, is doing.

The model “describes a love relationship through which God accomplishes His purposes,” Blackaby and King explain. To please God the Father, we should look to see where He is working and then we should join Him.
Pray: Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You for creating such a close relationship between us that I can see where You are working. Help me to get in alignment with what You are doing. Help me to complete the assignments You have for me.
